Nigel Marriott


Nigel is an independent statistician, active fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and founder of Marriott Statistical Consulting. He has over 30 years’ experience of helping clients to use statistical thinking and analysis to understand their world and improve their performance in many fields. Since 2017, he has been active in the pay gap reporting space providing both consulting and training services to help clients define what equality means to them, measure where they are today, identify key drivers of any gaps and predict timescales for closing gaps. He has also advised the Government Equalities Office on revising gender pay gap reporting guidance, given evidence to Treasury Select Committee on effectiveness of pay gap reporting, written a briefing note for parliamentarians ahead of debates on ethnicity pay gap reporting and wrote the draft version of the government’s ethnicity pay gap reporting guidance. Nigel has also written many articles and blogs to help demystify many of the issues that arise in pay gap reporting.
