John is one of the founder shareholders and Chair of Spktral.
His business experience (and lots of much better informed independent research!) has taught him that the best management team is exactly that – the best team for the job.
Anything that gets in the way of an absolute meritocracy hinders business growth, profitability and the creation of shareholder value.
Biography
John is an active business angel and consultant who provides strategic and governance advice to a range of clients through his consultancy vehicle, IROS Consulting, as well as acting in executive and non executive capacities on a number of Boards.
Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen and as a licensed insolvency practitioner, he built Invocas Group to become the leading independent insolvency business in Scotland, culminating in a successful AIM float in March 2006. John currently Chairs Spktral Limited, Biochar Innovations Limited and Microshield 360 United Kingdom Limited. He is also a Board member at angel syndicate, Apollo Informal Investments Limited, an active member of both the Par Equity and London & Scottish angel syndicates, a member of The Master's Court at the Royal Company of Merchants of the City of Edinburgh and an Ambassador for golf review business, Leading Courses.
John is married to Frances and has 2 children. When not working he can usually be found on the golf course or following the (mis)fortunes of Leeds United.
